Frequently asked questions
Can I keep the hens at the end of the rental?
Yes you can! For a nominal buy-out cost, you can keep everything you have just rented.
Can I rent the same hens next year?
Yes you can! We tag the hens when we pick them up and you pay a deposit for next year so we can reserve them for you.
How long is the rental for?
Normally it is between May - October. We are flexible with the date of returning and you can keep them into November if you prefer. We also have rentals that started in October (they were too excited to wait until Spring :) ). the hens come back to the farm for the winter and we take them back to the family in May and they carry on with their rental until October - we can make everything work for you.
What happens if a chicken dies or gets lost?
We understand that this can happen, and you will only be charged $30 to add another hen to our Hire a Hen rental flock.
